Security
Data traffic between wireless devices and backend systems has to be properly protected. A large amount of all wireless 2G/3G/4G data traffic takes place through public internet, without a pin code on the cards or secured IP addresses. If the security is not up to par, this could lead to issues like others uncovering the protocol and the IP address of the device to catch the data traffic or take remote control of the device. This can be prevented through simple means. Protection of your data traffic can be done on three levels:
- VPN tunnel: your data traffic is delivered through the internet using a VPN/IPsec tunnel with fixed IP addresses. The traffic is routed through our secured APN and the VPN tunnel to your server. This way your data traffic cannot be reached by outside sources.
- Routed through a landline: data traffic can also be routed through a copper- or fiberglass-line, avoiding the internet altogether. This option is often chosen when the security of data traffic has to comply to the highest possible security standards.
- Sim card security: to prevent any type of sim card abuse (where a card is removed from your system and placed in a phone or tablet) it is possible to make your sim unusable in other devices by using an IMEI lock.
